Bayview

Nestled at the southern end of Lake Pend Oreille is Bayview, a beautiful sheltered harbor with steep cliffs where Mountain Goats and Bald Eagles live amid verdant evergreen forests. It is a haven for boaters, vacationers and outdoorsmen in all seasons. It is a classic North Idaho town – quaint and understated with a casual atmosphere.

Bayview has a history that dates back to the 1860’s where the area was used by fur trappers for over-wintering. The Kallispell Indians also hunted and trapped in the area for generations. At one point in it’s history Bayview was an important supplier of lime and Remnants of the lime kilns still dot the landscape. Another interesting fact about Bayview it is home to the Naval Sea Systems Command where acoustic research is performed for the US government, the only land locked Naval Base in the US.

Bayview is 5 minutes down the road is Farragut State Park where there is over 4000 acres of trails, beaches, and forests to explore. Travel a little further and Silverwood Theme Park offers family fun.

The town itself has several restaurants, a merchantile, boat launches and slips and numerous options for housing from float homes to full RV hook-up. Bayview Daze is celebrated the weekend of July 4th with a parade, fireworks and crafts fair. July 19th -20th will host the 6th Annual Thunder in the Bay Car Show.
